HISTORY:
Harriman Army-Navy, Inc.'s origin dates back to New York City in the early 1940's, when my grandfather opened "Vet's Trading" and "Lee Sport Stores" after completing his service in the Merchant Marines on the SS Domino and serving in North Africa in the Army during World War II. In 1972 my mother was handed the torch to open Harriman Army-Navy Inc., in upstate Harriman N.Y. A few years later she was joined by her brother until 1996. I joined her in 2000.
We as a family are proud of the success that my grandfather envisioned. As a "destination store" we have been voted the most unique place to shop in the Hudson Valley by the Times Herald Record. We have an extraordinary store and a great staff: A combination that has been keeping our customers coming back every season. Serving our community has enabled us to have everlasting ties and a special bond with many generations that continue to feel at home in our store. As we continue to maintain our identity in this ever changing economy, we believe that small business plays a role that is invaluable in the community and the economic structure of our country. We beleive in the responsiblity to persist and maintain our role in the future.

Tucked between an automotive garage and a café along a busy stretch of Route 17M, this half-boutique, half Army-Navy outpost is a hidden gem. One side of the 8,500-square-foot space is a paradise for “guys who don’t wear ties,” says co-owner Jennifer Carillo. Leather jackets, tee shirts, jeans, and boots appeal to your average (but fashionable) Joe, while men in uniform shop for all sorts of tactical gear, from ballistic vests to batons. There’s outdoorsmen’s and construction workers’ apparel, and even paintball equipment, too. Ladies take refuge in the other half of the shop, where stylists offer customized fittings in brand-name casualwear, glamorous special occasion dresses (which have been worn to the Emmy and Tony awards in past years), sky-high heels, and accessories galore.
